Andrea Untama

VP of Diversity and Inclusion

English and Creative Writing | Senior

Andrea Untama is a Senior from Westfield, Indiana, majoring in English and Creative Writing. Outside the Purdue Foundation Student Board, she has enjoyed giving back to the Purdue community by her involvement with the John Martinson Honors College, Student English Association, Delta Phi Mu, and Boiler Gold Rush.

As VP of Diversity and Inclusion, she is excited to lead, continue, and expand upon PFSB’s legacy of equitable, inclusive, and diverse educational and professional initiatives in helping all become better versions of themselves by realizing the role they play in diversity and inclusion, and educate members about how diversity and inclusion play a role in philanthropy.

In her free time, Andrea enjoys spending time with friends and family, volunteering, writing and reading poetry, and a good cup of tea. She loves to travel and engage and learn about different cultures, whether for studies or going on holiday. In the future, Andrea hopes to become a published author and use her degree to help her community.

PFL Donor Spotlight

Joyce and Bob Miles

Health and Human Sciences '65

Chemical Engineering '63

Joyce (HHS’65) and Bob (CE’63) Miles began making a difference in the lives of young people long before their philanthropic efforts began at Purdue. After Joyce graduated from Purdue, she spent 31 years as an educator with Duval County Schools in Jacksonville, Florida. While Bob established a successful career with his own company, he also volunteered in the Jacksonville City Schools, chaired the board of directors for the childcare center at their church, and spent time helping the Duval County 4-H Foundation.

Bob and Joyce understood the transformative power of education and the importance of supporting young minds in their pursuit of knowledge, which led them to establish multiple scholarship endowments at Purdue. They created a scholarship to support students who were members of Twin Pines Cooperative, where Joyce had been a member. They also established a scholarship endowment in the College of Health and Human Sciences

Committee Updates

Philanthropy

WhyGive kicked off last Friday with FREE Boilermaker Special rides outside of CL50 from 11am - 1pm! Stay tuned on our social media to keep up with future WhyGive week events!

We are also creating a content program for all Purdue students, especially club alumni chairs. This content will contain information to improve connections with alumni and better their strategies to stay in touch and involved with alumni. We will be putting on a workshop soon to teach this material with the Purdue for Life team that puts on PDOG so stay on the lookout!

Recruitment and Outreach

We are planning Experience PFSB night. This is a night that allows students to see what it is like to be an active member, and it serves as a great networking event for all who attend!

Diversity
and Inclusion

We are working on a project to showcase the diversity within PFSB! We are compiling data in order to present to members at an upcoming meeting. As diversity is so important to our organization, we strive to show how diversity comes in all different forms.. some we don't normally think about!

Marketing
and
Communication

We are working on the 40-year anniversary project, creating merch, content for the Instagram, and a new 40-year logo!

Events

Notable Fall Events

Tailgates

Members of the President's Council have access to special pregame tailgates before home football games, where they can enjoy a meal, music, and the company of their fellow PC members. Members of PFSB assist the Special Events Team with managing the tailgate and socialize with the PC members.

Annual Dinner

A formal dinner to honor the continuous generosity of the President's Council members, PFSB members assist the Special Events Team with running and managing the event. It provides the opportunity for members to network with successful Purdue alumni and friends.

Back to Class

Back to Class is when President’s Council members listen to different presentations by professors about their current research on campus. We assist with registration and act as classroom monitors for the event.

President Fun Fact!

2024 is PFSB's 40th anniversary! We were founded in 1984 and continue to grow our legacy.
